More than 300,000 Montgomery County residents visit Five Rivers MetroParks (FRMP) at least a few times a year. All told, people of all ages and backgrounds use our parks two million times a year.
This amazing use is because FRMP supports our environment, physical, mental, and emotional health; provides great outdoor recreation and relaxation; and offers free outdoor education and festivals. It’s good for our quality of life, and attracts visitors who boost our local economy.
Despite reducing staff, programs, and maintenance, our FRMP need a one-mill, ten-year levy to keep safe access to the parks for all of Montgomery County:
-
Ensuring safe picnic areas, restrooms, play areas, programs, trails, roads, and bridges
-
Protecting natural areas, wildlife habitats, and water quality
-
Providing outdoor recreation, education, and festivals
-
Keeping knowledgeable, helpful staff
The cost for all this is under $3 a month per $100,000 of appraised property value. Without it, your MetroParks cannot keep trails and facilities safe, clean, accessible, and repaired; offer outdoor education and festivals; nor sufficiently protect our wildlife habitats and human environment.
